SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
For optimal viewing, you’ll need a fast CD-ROM player. We recommend one with at least 350 milliseconds or faster access time.
Minimum requirement is a Macintosh computer with a 68020 CPU(we recommend at least a 68030; a 68040 is the best), 4 megabytes of RAM and an 8-bit color graphics card(we recommend a 16-bit or 24-bit color graphics card).
INSTALLING QUICKTIME
To install QuickTime, open the “Essentials” folder. Then drag both the “QuickTime” & “QuickTime Fix” icons over your current System folder. The computer will ask if you want to copy QuickTime into the Extensions folder. Click on "Yes." After the computer has finished copying QuickTime, restart the computer.
VIEWING MOVIES
There are four different versions of the Interactive Player for four possible Mac configurations.
BEV | 12” screen | 256 colors <- Machines with 12” monitor and 8-bit display
BEV | 12” screen | 24-bit color <- Machines with 12” monitor and millions of colors
BEV | 13” screen | 256 colors <- Machines with 13” monitor and 8-bit display
BEV | 13” screen | 24-bit color <- Machines with 13” monitor and millions of colors
To view individual movies, double click on the files that end with “.MOV;1" or simply drag each file into the VCR player program located in the “Essentials” folder.
For the fastest frame rate, make sure the MEMORY control panel is active and disk cache set to at least 512K. It will also help if you turn off all unnecessary INITs and extensions. Turn off AppleTalk if you don’t need it. INITs and Extensions slow down the computer.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
If you have any trouble loading a movie, please first check all the connections to and from your computer. Make sure all the SCSI cables as well as the power cords are firmly attached and all SCSI ID addresses are unique.
Look for any INIT conflict and try not to run any programs in the background.
Check the CD-ROM for any scratches or finger prints. Use a soft cloth to wipe from the center to the edge. CD-ROMs are more vulnerable to damage than audio CDs, so always place them in the jewel box or CD caddies whenever possible.
If you still have problems, please call us at 714-753-9709 during 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
To write to us please send a full description of your problem and your system configuration(what type of Macintosh, amount of RAM, graphics card, hard drives, type of CD-ROM Drive, INITs and Extensions used.
